Using the tool without signing in
You can use BAX Checker without an account. In that case we do not collect any personal account data. We keep anonymous, aggregate usage counts (for example, how often a tournament, discipline or player page is analysed) that are not linked to your identity, and your IP address may be processed transiently to prevent abuse and enforce rate limits — it is not stored against a profile.
What data we collect when you sign in
Signing in is only needed for optional account features. When you sign in with Google, we store:
- Google account info — your name, email address and Google user ID
- Account activity — login count and last-login / registration timestamps
This is stored in our database (Google Firestore) under your user ID.
How we use your data
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in
- To provide optional account features (e.g. saved tournaments / watchlist)
- To understand which features are used, in aggregate, so we can improve the tool
- To prevent abuse and enforce fair-use rate limits
Badminton data shown by the tool
BAX Checker retrieves publicly accessible tournament and player information from dbv.turnier.de and badminton-bax.de to produce its analysis. This data concerns third parties and is provided by those sources; we cache it briefly to reduce load and it remains the property of the respective operators.
Third-party services
Google Firebase
We use Google Firebase for authentication, database storage (Firestore) and website hosting.
We do not use advertising, third-party tracking, or analytics cookies. The only cookies/local storage used are those required to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference.
Your rights (GDPR)
- Access: request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: update or correct your information
- Deletion: request removal of your data
- Objection / withdraw consent: stop using the account features at any time
- Complaint: lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority
Data retention
- Account data: stored until you request deletion
- Cached badminton data: expires automatically (tournament searches within minutes, player profiles within a day, ratings and league history within weeks)
- Usage counters: kept as aggregate totals, not tied to individuals
